Karaoke
Night
This
is as good as it gets when you're on tour in Tokyo. The trade
show was over and Scott and I were taken out for a night on
the town. After a hearty meal of raw fish-- I had rice and chicken,
thanks-- we were on our way.
When we walked in the building I felt as if I was in a hotel
lobby. The difference was that instead of getting a room to
sleep in, we got a bar room to have our own private Karaoke
party.
In Tokyo, Karaoke is very popular among business associates.
It's a sign of respect to clap, cheer, or cry when the people
you do business with sing you a song.
We were treated to stunning performances of many of today's
top Japanese love songs. We were also lucky enough to witness
a Japanese version of Ricky Martin's La Vida Loca, "Ah
chi, ah chi, chi ah, chi ah!" Scott started things off
in English with a solo rendition of "Hound Dog" by
the King himself. Next, he and I did a duet of "Roxanne"
and tried our best to keep up with Michael Jackson's "Beat
It". To top the whole night off our Japanese distributor,
Tony, sang us a beautiful version of the theme from the Titanic...
I had just bought myself my first video camera earlier that
day and of course, I was kicking myself that I didn't have it
along. I did however manage to get some stills. Evidence for
later...
