  • Eleven year-old Andy Macdonald unwraps a Variflex skateboard Christmas morning. He begins skating and hasn’t stopped since.
1992
   
  • Upon completing high school, Andy moves from Boston to San Diego to fulfill his dream of becoming a pro skateboarder.  His car has a broken radiator that forces him to drive the entire way with the heater on.

  • Human skateboard company releases the first Andy Macdonald signature skateboard.
  • Andy completes his first professional contest, the inaugural Slam City Jam in Vancouver, Canada and places fifth.

  • Andy places 1st in Street at the PSL Venice Street Grind Series in Sacramento, CA. This is Andy’s first win as a professional skateboarder.

 
1996    
   

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert, edging out his Airwalk teammate, Tony Hawk, to Silver, at the ESPN X Games in Providence, RI.

  • Andy is named World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.

 

 
1997    
   
  • Andy signs a sponsorship deal with Powell Skateboards following in the footsteps of skateboarding innovators such as Rodney Mullen, Steve Caballero, Lance Mountain, and Tony Hawk.    

  • During a visit to the Woodward skateboarding camp, Andy becomes the first person to complete a back flip on his skateboard over a funbox on the street course. He later duplicated his trick at the X Games during the Street contest.   

  • Andy takes 1st Place in Vert at the Vans Triple Crown of Skateboarding in his hometown of Boston, MA.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert Doubles with Tony Hawk and a Silver Medal in Street at the ESPN X Games in San Diego, CA.

  • He then goes on to win 1st Place in Vert at the World Cup Munster Mastership in Germany, and takes the World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Championship title again.
1998    
   
  • Andy is named ‘Best Overall Skater’ by the readers of Transworld Skateboarding Magazine.    

  • Airwalk releases the first Andy Mac signature shoe.    

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert, the Gold Medal in Vert Doubles, and a Silver Medal in Street at the ESPN X Games in San Diego, CA, making him the first X Games skateboarder to win medals in three disciplines.
  • Andy is named World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.
1999    
   
  • Andy is invited to the White House to meet President Bill Clinton as part of The Partnership for a Drug-Free America campaign.  
  • Andy’s image is used for Xtreme Sports! series of U.S. postage stamps.  

  • Andy sets a Guinness World Record for the “Longest Jump on a Skateboard” at 52-feet 10-inches.  He re-sets the record later that year at 56-feet 10-inches.  
     
  • Andy is named the Overall Series Vert Champion of the Vans Triple Crown of Skateboarding.  

  • Andy wins the Bronze Medal in Vert at the NBC Gravity Games in Providence, RI.
     
  • Andy wins the Silver Medal in Vert and the Gold Medal in Vert Doubles at the ESPN X Games in San Francisco, CA.  

  • Andy is named World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.
2000    
   
  • THQ releases the video game “MTV Skateboarding featuring Andy Macdonald” for Sony PlayStation, Sega, and other game platforms.  

  • At an Indians vs. Angels baseball game, Andy becomes the second skateboarder in history to throw out the first pitch.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert at the NBC Gravity Games in Providence, RI.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert Doubles at the ESPN X Games in San Francisco, CA.

  • Andy takes 1st Place in Vert at the Air and Style contest in Innsbruck, Austria.

  • Andy is named the World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.
2001    
   
  • The Airwalk Andy Mac Four signature shoe is released.

  • Some of Andy’s memorabilia is included in two museum exhibitions, one at the San Diego Hall of Champions, and the other at the Australian Gallery of Sport and Olympic Museum.  

  • Andy appears as a guest on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.  

  • Andy’s signature model Swatch Watch is released.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert Doubles at the ESPN X Games in Philadelphia, PA.

  • Andy wins the Bronze Medal in Vert at the NBC Gravity Games in Providence, RI.

  • Andy is named the World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert Doubles at the ESPN X Games in Philadelphia, PA.

  • Andy launches a series of signature brands and products including andy mac footwear, andy mac Skateboards, and andy mac Helmets and Pads.  

  • Andy makes an appearance on 60 Minutes.

  • Andy is named World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.
2003    
   
  • Andy releases his book published by Simon and Schuster, “Dropping in with Andy Mac, The Life of a Pro Skateboarder”.    

  • Andy wins the Silver Medal in Vert at the ESPN Global X Games in San Antonio, TX, the Silver Medal in Vert at the Slam City Jam in Vancouver, Canada, the Silver Medal in Vert at the Van’s Triple Crown of Skateboading in Jersey City, NJ, the Silver Medal in Vert at the 2003 Gravity Games in Cleveland, OH, and the Silver Medal in Vert and the Bronze Medal in Best Trick Vert at X Games IX in Los Angeles, CA.

  • Andy is named the World Cup Skateboarding Overall Points Champion.
2004
   
  • Andy wins 1st Place in Vert at the T-Mobile Ramps and Amps in New York City and at the World Cup Munster Mastership in Germany. He wins the Silver Medal in Vert at the 2004 Gravity Games in Cleveland, OH, and the Bronze Medal in Big Air at X Games X in Los Angeles, CA.
2005    
   
  • Andy starts a speaking series at high schools in the northeast for Verizon Wireless called STR8TLK.

  • Andy is a featured skater on Tony Hawk’s 30+-city Boom Boom Huck Jam Tour.  

  • Andy takes the Silver Medal in Vert at the 2005 Gravity Games in Woodward, PA, 2nd Place in Vert at the NBC Action Sports Tour Vans Invitational in Portland, OR, 2nd Place in Vert at the LG Action Sports Tour in Moscow, Russia, the Bronze Medal in Big Air at X Games XI in Los Angeles, CA, and 3rd Place Overall on the NBC Action Sports Tour.
2006    
   
  • Andy wins 1st Place in Vert at the ASA World Tour contest in San Diego, CA.

  • He wins 3rd Place in Vert at the ASA World Tour Finals in Dallas, TX, 3rd Place in Vert at the NBC Action Sports Tour Panasonic Open in Louisville, KT, and 4th Place Overall for the NBC Acton Sports Tour.
2007    
   
  • Andy starts the annual "Clash at Clairemont" event with Grind for Life and the Mission Valley YMCA which raises over $20,000 in its first year to help people with cancer.
    Andy becomes a board member of Grind for Life continuing his goal to help people with cancer.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert at the ESPN Asian X Games in Shanghai, China.

  • Andy wins 1st Place in Vert at the T-Mobile Xtreme Playground contest in Berlin, Germany.

  • Andy honored with an "American Hero" Award from the Fresh Air Fund in New York City.

  • Andy wins the NBC Action Sports Tour Player of the Year Award.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert at the ESPN Asian X Games in Shanghai, China.

  • He takes 2nd Place in Vert at the NBC Action Sports Tour in Beijing, China, 1st Place in Vert at the NBC Action Sports Tour Toyota Challenge, 2nd Place Overall for the NBC Action Sports Tour, and a Silver Medal in Superpark at ESPN X Games XIV in Los Angeles, CA, giving him more X Games medals than any other skater.
2009
   

  • Andy wins 1st Place in the NBC Action Sports Tour in Beijing, China.

  • He takes 2nd Place in each Portland, Salt Lake, and Orlando stops on the NBC Action Sports Tour.

  • Andy wins the Gold Medal in Vert at the ESPN Asian X Games in Shanghai, China, and a Silver Medal in Park and a Bronze Medal in Vert at ESPN X Games XV.
2010    
   

  • Andy wins a Silver Medal in Park and a Bronze Medal in Vert at ESPN X Games XVI.

  • Andy takes 3rd Place at the Maloof Money Cup.

  • Andy places 2nd Overall for the NBC Action Sports Tour.
